art251 News
Issue 6 January 2009
Greetings, art lovers!
Welcome to a bright and colorful New Year and welcome to our opening newsletter of 2009 on this, first wet and cold, now sunny, now blustery and wintery day in North Texas. I’ve lived here a while, but still find it rather difficult adapting to an ice storm on one day followed by sub-tropical temperatures the next!
But enough of local climate change…
SaleOur first show, Contemporary Elements, featuring new works in forged steel and copper by James Johnson, colorful handformed glass by Scott Young, and contemporary-meets-antique jewelry from Bobbie Nix, came to a close on January 3. Thanks to all of you for attending our Opening Reception and the show, and for supporting these exceptional local artists.
?
Our once a year Winter Sale continues until the end of January. We’re still offering up to 25 percent off on many works throughout the gallery. We recommend you come in to see our discounts, and/or check out our website for further details. We don’t negotiate prices, so January is an ideal time to pick up that special artwork that you’ve had your eye on for yourself or as a unique gift of art.

January Feature:

Giving art as a gift

It’s so rewarding to give a gift to a special person, but ironically it seems increasingly hard to find one (a gift, that is). So, during your next spate of gift giving consider giving original art. Art comes in more shapes and colors, and more forms and textures than the latest electronic gizmo from overseas. Art can refresh someone’s home, it can bring color to a grey office wall, it can bring endless smiles and reflection, it can deliver meaning, it can spark quiet revolution.
Art can make a perfect gift, year-round, for a hard-working teacher, your secretary, your boss, your valentine (yes, I know it’s only January).

We have a wide selection of one-of-kind gifts under $50, under $250, and under $600. Our recommended items include: artpaks from our beautiful blue art-o-mat machine, mini-canvases of Rocket Dog and his friends, abstract glass flowers, small word bowls, muse cups, handcarved gourd boxes, copper votives, polymer clay jewelry, select glass vases and platters, limited edition photographs, small canvases, copper and steel roses, and much more.

Check out our growing gift section on the art251 website, right here.

We Believe
Making art more affordable
One of our goals for art251 is too make the process of buying great original art fun, approachable and affordable. Some of your favorite works may be beyond your immediate financial reach (so, keep our art lease / purchase and installment plans in mind). I have the same challenge as well. So, we have some ideas in mind to help: coffee table art, limited edition prints, expanded art leasing.
Coffee Table Art Books
art251 is pleased to announce that we’ll soon be offering quality coffee table art books. Each limited edition book will accompany our monthly shows and feature prints of each participating artist’s selected works. This is an affordable way to take lots of art home without breaking the bank or if you don’t have any remaining space left on your walls or shelves. Limited Edition Prints
Now, if you do have some wall space left in your home or office, we’d like to fill it with some of our unique art. If we can’t fill it with an original work, we’d like to offer you the option of a custom printed, limited edition reproduction of select works from our participating artists. We’re working with some local printing vendors that specialize in printing art. We’ll be offering up to 3 sizes (based on the dimensions of the original) and several mounting and finishing options, such as printing on water-color paper or stretched canvas. So, look out for more details on this service over the coming months, and please ask if you’re interested.
Art Leasing

art251 now offers 3 great financing options to make owning art more attractive and affordable:
1) Pay monthly over a 60-120 day period, with interest free payments.

2) Lease / purchase art for a monthly fee over a longer period up to 24 months. The art is yours when the payments are done.

3) Lease art for an event for as little as a week or longer term, and periodically replace with new pieces to keep your decor fresh. All for a low monthly payment of 3-5 percent of the retail price.

Depending on a your individual or business tax status, renting and/or leasing art from art251 may offer attractive tax reducing strategies. We?ll work with you to find the approach that best meets your needs. Want to find out more? Give us a call at 817.898.1444 or visit the art251 lease / purchase program page on our website.

New Arrivals: (Sur)realism and Mexican Toys

art251 welcomed a couple of artists in December: Bryan Wetz and Ivette Ramos.

Bryan Wetz is a person of many talents. He paints, makes his own furniture and even designed our beautiful art space. Luckily for us, we’re now home to half a dozen, soon to be more, of Bryan’s works. This first series is a colorful body of canvas paintings featuring realistic and surrealistic imagery of important memories and life-events. As a long-time admirer of de Chirico, Ernst, Tanguy and Dali I’m now delighted to see again some fresh art that delivers surprising juxtapositions and alternate perspectives.

Solitude by Bryan Wetz. Acrylic on canvas. 20 inches x 24 inches.
Ivette Ramos is an energetic and versatile artist, originally from Mexico. She has formal training in graphic design, ceramic, glass and painting. Her work has shown in Mexico, Italy and the United States. Many of her recent works can be found as murals around our area. We are pleased to have some of Ivette’s beautiful work featuring images of treasured children’s toys. Her pieces are stylized, yet inticate, and bring out her passions for color, children and things past.
Toy Doll by Ivette Ramos. Acrylic on panel. 23.5 inches x 23.5 inches.
