TONIGHT, OPENING RECEPTION 6 – 9 PM

Our first dual show features the original works of husband and wife artists, Ray Maines and Marie Maines. Through Marie’s subtle pastel drawings and Ray‘s fluid, geometric photographs we explore the effects of different media on the artists’ representation of our landscape.

The Opening Reception is November 11, from 6-9pm. The shows runs until December 8, 2010.

Marie Maines focuses on landscapes, including both natural and manmade forms. Her images evolve from a strong emotional response to a visual experience. Then begins the battle with composition, color, light and space as she recaptures the initial response. Marie is a member of the Pastel Society of the Southwest. Her works have won numerous awards, and, increasingly, can be found in private, corporate and museum collections.

Ray Maines tends to see images which are abstract or which can be abstracted through the digital process. Fragments and details of objects, such as flowers, trees and buildings particularly attract his attention. He is a master of lighting his subjects creatively to render details in his final images that many would ordinarily miss. Ray is a retired commercial photographer and has a degree in illustrative photography.

The Opening Reception coincides with October’s City of Keller Gallery Walk.

Keller Gallery Walk is free and centers around Keller Town Hall and Arthouse. It is organized by The City of Keller Public Arts Program, in conjunction with Arthouse, art251, Art Party Boutique and Gallery, Monart School of Art, Young Artists of Texas (YAT), Main and Vine Art, and Artizans Alley.
Please come and join us at art251 and the six other participating art spaces to see some great new art, old (and new) friends, rich conversation, unique entertainment, and of course, food and refreshments.

The Keller Gallery Walk continues monthly on the Second Thursday of each month from September 2010 through May 2010.
