We are opening on Tuesday, August 12 at 10am. Your friendly art251 owners may be on life-support due to exhaustion, but we’ll be open!

Our opening show is appropriately called “Sneak Peek Week”. It will run from August 12 until August 19. We’ll be giving our gallery visitors an opportunity to preview all the wonderful art on display. Customers can purchase or reserve a piece, and will be able to take delivery after the Sneak Peek Week show closes on August 19.

To celebrate our opening from 4-7pm we are hosting a low-key reception for our artists and anyone else who happens to stop in. There is no dress code for this event, although some clothing is required. Our official grand opening events, complete with more formal dress code, are scheduled for mid-September (more details soon).

So, this week please come take a sneak peek!

We drew five random names from our many sweepstakes entries gathered during Kellerfest (May 30 – June 1). The five lucky winners will receive one of the art works that we had on display during the event. This includes 2 signed prints by Southlake artist Trish Biddle, an abstract by Melissa Ayr, 2 matching ceramics by local potter Kim Norris and an extruded vase by potter and musician David Hendley. Kim hand delivered the vase to our first winner today – we’re not open yet so unfortunately we couldn’t have winners coming to our space.

If you wish to know the names of the winning entries please send an email to us at the following address – spelled out so as to avoid those nasty spamming bots: i n f o [at] a r t 2 5 1 [dot] c o m.

The first annual Bear Creek Art Gala on April 19, 2008 was a great success. By all accounts we had about 250 attendees to the invitation only event. All proceeds from ticket sales and the silent and live auctions went to Young Artists of Texas, a local non-profit. Kudos to all the organizers, sponsors and caterers for donating various mixtures of energy, time, effort and items for the auctions.

We helped sponsor the soiree by donating our, as yet, unfinished space and some art. So, our empty cavern temporarily became host to a great array of art from local artists including Trish Biddle, Kathy Kromer and Melissa Warren; big board auction items, such as flame red motor scooter, black and white photography package, visit to recording of Regis and Kelly in NYC, limo and champagne at the Dolce Room, and full tank of gas (with a Mercedes) for the weekend. Mountains of great food and fine wine came courtesy of Main Street Bakery, Edible Arrangements, Mezza Luna, Mendocino Wine Company, HNB Gourmet, and Tastefully Yours Catering. My apologies if I’ve missed some.

I have to say that our space looked pretty good filled with art, food and people!
