Category: In common

We do have art in common, although art251 doesn’t possess any works by Remington or Russell. No, I had something more specific in mind.

Both the prestigious Amon Carter and art251 are prominently featured on the KERA art&seek blog. Check out the “links” section. I suppose it does help that our name also begins with the letter “a”. I believe we’re the only commercial art space to be so listed. We’re very honored to be in such good company. So, a big thanks to our friends at KERA!

Now fans of KERA will be able get a first-hand look at the trials and tribulations, and triumphs, of starting up and operating an art space in the suburbs.

Hmm. This one is rather interesting.

I check the art251 blog and website viewership statistics often. So, it was quite a surprise to see that my blog recently added new readers from the Islamic Republic of Iran. Coincidentally, our blog is read by a similar number of people in Costa Rica. It’s fascinating to see our readership growing on a global basis. Now, if we could somehow convince our friends in Iran and Costa Rica, and the United States, of course, to visit our space and buy some great local art!

We do like food here at art251. Your friendly gallery owners can concoct some tasty, authentic Italian and southern dishes. (I’m from London, but the UK doesn’t really have a cuisine other than bangers and mash.) However, food is not our connection with Ms.Ray.

We are connected through Art-o-mat, our trusty, art dispensing machine, robotic gallery director in-training, and a work of art in itself. You see, our machine once lived in New York City, at Utrecht Art Supply on Fourth Avenue. Somehow it ended up on the New York-based Rachael Ray Show during a segment on cool vending machines. Check-out the Rachael Ray vid below.

Our Art-o-mat machine, the one seen here, will arrive at art251 by mid-August, shippers and gasoline prices willing. We can’t wait to give it a new home.

Well, it’s not bio-diesel — our building regulations stipulate electricity as the only power source.

1jul08-carlscorner.jpgWe share an interior designer, Bryan Wetz.

Bryan is busy working on the (re-)design for Willie’s Place at Carl’s Corner, near Hillsboro, Texas. Aside from copious quantities of BioWillie the complex features stores, restaurant space and a 2,000 seater theater. Now, you may be able to put some of our delays into perspective, since I suspect the global country music legend carries a little more weight than two aspiring gallerists based in Keller.
